Church Work Advising

Curriculum

Welcome back, everyone! And a warm welcome to campus for those of you who are here for the first time!

As you prepare for classes to begin, please remember to check in with your faculty advisor early in the semester. We want to know how you are doing and to make sure you are on track with your classes to graduate on time! Here is an overview of faculty advisors for church work students:

LUTHERAN CLASSROOM TEACHER
Program Coordinator: Dr. Michele Pickel

Advisor: Your primary faculty advisor is assigned based on your licensure area. If you are not sure who this is, let us know and we will help you find out. If you have questions about the LCT program, you can see Dr. Michele Pickel, or Jacquelyn Magnuson. To schedule an appointment with any of them, please email pickel@csp.edu or magnuson@csp.edu.

PRE-PASTORAL AND PRE-DEACONESS
Advisor: Dr. Mark Schuler
Office Hours: MWF 8:30-10:20 a.m. in AD 327 or by appointment at http://drmarkschuler.youcanbook.me/. Appointments outside of Dr. Schuler’s regular office hours will normally take place in his main office in LMC 04.

ALL CHURCH WORK STUDENTS
In addition to your primary faculty advisor and program coordinator, you have one or more secondary advisors: Dr. Mark Schuler is a secondary advisor for DCE and DCO students, and Jacquelyn Magnuson is a secondary advisor for ALL church work students.

What does this mean? I am glad you asked! Being a secondary advisor means that you can come to us with basic advising questions, such as your course schedule, adding or dropping a class, or questions about the church work programs, to name a few.
